The Central Massachusetts Korean War Memorial, honoring the 191 young men and women who paid the supreme sacrifice in the Korean War, was dedicated on November 9, 2003. Thousands of people attended the ceremony, which was the culmination of an effort that spanned decades.
Located on Worcester Center Boulevard in Worcester, the Memorial is scheduled to be completed by Spring 2004. However, more support is needed to put the finishing touches on the Memorial and to maintain it in the years ahead.
Officially sanctioned by the Department of Defense as a "Commemorative Community," the Korean War Memorial Committee of Central Massachusetts made a three-year commitment to develop events to raise public awareness about the Korean War and to honor its veterans.
Throughout 2000, the 50th anniversary of the War, 2001 and 2002, the Committee organized a series of successful events to educate the public and honor our veterans. In May 2004, the Committee is conducting a Korea Revisit Tour, during which they will honor U.S. Troops stationed in Korea, as well as former ROK Marine Corps Commandants and other ROK military who generously donated to the memorial.
